P Boast & Son is an established Funeral Director in Chertsey, with roots dating back to 1904. The business was founded by Peter Boast, a local builder who initially conducted funerals at weekends. In those early years, he became known as the “poor man’s undertaker” for his dedication to helping workers who could not afford to take time off during the week. In the 1950s, Peter’s son Leonard joined the firm and shifted the focus entirely toward funeral services, operating from our long-standing family premises at 36 Eastworth Road.
The family tradition continued when Leonard’s son, Peter, joined in 1963, followed later by his grandson, Matthew Boast, in 1987. Matthew was an active part of the business from the age of 19, conducting funerals and managing daily operations. In 1997, the family made the decision to sell the business to G M Luff & Partners. Matthew remains a vital part of the team today, ensuring that the firm’s reputation for community service continues to grow. We are proud to support families across Chertsey, Shepperton, Woking, Addlestone, Weybridge, and Ottershaw.
As a member of the Ford Mears group, P Boast & Son has benefited from significant investment in facilities and the development of a modern funeral fleet. This collaboration allows us to provide a wider selection of service options and specialist resources while maintaining the personal, family-led approach that has defined our heritage for over a century. Our team is well placed to assist with arrangements at Woking and South West Middlesex Crematoria, which are our nearest local facilities.
