G M Luff & Partners is a long-standing Funeral Director in Haslemere, with a history dating back to 1897. The firm was founded by Thomas Marshall Luff, who rose from an apprentice to a partner at the local carpentry and building business, Gardener. Following the death of Mr Gardener in the early 1900s, Thomas took full ownership and established the company under his own name.
The dedicated premises at 84 Lion Lane were converted to include offices, a chapel, and a mortuary to serve the community. While the business originally utilised horse-drawn transport, Thomas’s son, Godfrey, introduced the first motor hearse to the firm in 1924. Following Godfrey’s passing in 1968, the business was eventually acquired by Ford Mears in 1986. Since then, the property has undergone significant modernisation and refurbishment to ensure we provide the highest standard of care while honouring the heritage of the Luff family.
Now operating as a key member of the Ford Mears group, G M Luff & Partners continues to support families across Haslemere, Liphook, Linchmere, Fernhurst, Grayswood, Fisherstreet, and Chiddingfold. This partnership has allowed us to invest in a versatile fleet of modern funeral vehicles and expand our range of specialist services. We remain committed to delivering a bespoke and respectful service that reflects our roots as a family-led funeral home. We regularly assist with arrangements at Guildford Crematorium, which is our nearest local facility.
